A beautifully hand-stitched typeface by the New York based designer Aries Wan.
Stereoscopic Stitch is a typographic experiment, in respect of the traditional hand embroidery. Each alphabet letter is hand stitched using a combination of two CMYK colors to create an optical 3D effect. Use of the CMYK colors was chosen in representation of the four-color printing process.

Is this not identical to Evelin Kasikov’s CMYK TYPE work, originally developed for her MA at St Martins in 2008 and subsequently used in illustration and editorial work? Her work has also been featured in recent books on new illustration and the use of the handmade.

Or is it just a coincidence.

Must be a fan of my work? This student got in touch a little while ago with an interview request. It is pretty identical, even using the same stitched registration marks. I can only wish that people who take inspiration from my work also credit the original source (some of them do, so there is hope!)
